Full Time Preschool Teacher with 12 ECE Units in Union City, CA

Full Job Description

We are looking for a Full Time Preschool Teacher with minimum 12 ECE units and / or an Aide who is currently pursuing units (online) but is available to work 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday, for our preschool, Adventure Montessori Academy, in Union City, California, which has been providing Montessori Style Early Childhood Education since over 30 years and, as our parents say, we have been one of the landmarks in Union City for so many years. Getting associated with such a legacy, you will teach our children important elements that a kid encounter as soon as entering school life until graduating to Elementary level (Grade 1). A preschool teacher must have great passion and patience to get along with children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices, preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children.
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children.
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.).
• Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
• Track children’s progress and report to parents.
• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche.
• Collaborate with other educators.
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.

Skills:

• Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher or Assistant Teacher desirable.
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms.
• Excellent communication and instructional skills.
• Ability to act as mediator between children.
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable.
• Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen.
• High School Graduation or GED required.
• Minimum 12 core semester units in early childhood education/development or appropriate age-level program curriculum OR 6 completed semester units of early childhood education and pursuing for more.
• We can consider someone with fewer units but intending to complete all 12 units in coming time for an Aide position.
• At least 6 months teaching experience in a licensed Child Care Center.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $16.00 - $26.00 per hour, depending on experience
