Position Overview & Specifications

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the Trust Onsight nursery. We would be happy to consider full and part time hours.

To work within OFSTED registration guidelines to ensure a high standard of care for every child, whilst creating a safe and stimulating atmosphere for children to play, learn and develop. To enable young children to make good progress in their learning by building upon the skills they have in preparation for school readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • NNEB or NVQ level 3
  • First Aid (desirable)
  • Basic Food Hygiene (desirable)
  • To role model positive behavior, promote the trust Values and best practice in childcare
  • To support the Nursery Management Team to create and maintain a safe, warm, caring and stimulating environment, providing encouragement and praise to ensure the development of each child.
  • To work efficiently and competently as part of a team, ensuring staff are informed of any changes that may affect the children or nursery.
  • To implement/oversee the provision of daily activities which stimulate sensorial, creative messy play and also covers the seven areas of learning as stated in the EYFS frame work.
  • To adhere to OFSTED guidelines.
  • To implement and promote all Trust and Nursery Policies, for example: Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and the Children Act 1989 and 2004 (revised).
  • To assist the Nursery Co-ordinators with regards to dealing with Special Needs, Equal Opportunities, Child Protection and Health and Safety.
Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park building in the nearby borough of Sefton.

We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.
  • To promote and encourage outside learning opportunities, assisting the children to explore the environment within the nursery gardens, through trips to local areas, ensuring staff ratios and health and safety guidelines are adhered to.
  • To implement the Early Years Foundation Stage and any other childcare and government initiatives.
  • To attend and contribute to staff and team meetings
  • To act as a Key Person for a group of children working in partnership with their Team and parents.
  • To work a flexible shift pattern to accommodate the needs of the service.
  • To provide support to colleagues to ensure ratios are maintained.
  • To be constantly aware of the needs of children and be flexible to provide cover, which may include working additional hours, as required.
  • To undertake some training out of work hours (time in lieu).
  • To support the team to monitor and evaluate children's learning through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies.
  • To contribute to the setting and review of Learning and Development Plan (LDP) targets in addition to developmental action plans.
  • To develop positive relationships with the children and their carers.
  • To interact with and observe the children, supporting and encouraging them to progress, promoting their independence and personal development
  • With the support of the Nursery Team, to recognise and meet the needs of each child, and their family, as individuals.
  • To ensure key children’s learning journals are kept up to date and regularly reviewed.
  • To provide objective and accurate feedback and reports for parents and other professionals on children’s achievements, progress and related matters.
  • To undertake any duties set that will assist in the day to day running of the nursery.
