The Opportunity

The Brownsword Group have created arguably the most iconic collection of historic countryside and city centre hotels, all wonderful properties set within beautiful grounds and cities, all with their own stories to share. Generosity, quality and welcoming hospitality is what they do very well. Being exceptional hoteliers has been the core of the operation, creating a successful hospitality business.

Role
: We are looking for an office administrator, someone who is a great host, has great attention to detail and is brilliant at admin and with IT. Reporting to the CEO, you will support the central support team and wider group businesses (we all work from one office!) with a variety of office duties, helping to keep everything on track and in order.

Location
: This role is based in the beautiful heritage city of Bath. Our central support team for Andrew Brownsword Hotels and ABode hotels use our beautiful town house office in central Bath as a hub, and this role is based from that office on a full-time basis.

It is a great location to work from and to meet and collaborate with the central team as well as the wider group businesses!

Hours
: Full time, Monday to Friday. We may be flexible on days and hours for the right person, so let us know what you are looking for!

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing our central email account, coordinating responses and helping to deliver quick and articulate answers to those raising queries
  • Taking minutes and recording action points at group meetings.
  • Putting together regular and ad-hoc reports for the group.
  • Management of office supplies, equipment, including management of spending. Support in the management of Fire and Health and Safety requirements in the office.
  • Welcoming office visitors, answering phone calls, greeting clients.
  • Preparation of office correspondence, presentations, and memos.
  • Managing and coordinating meetings, appointments, and schedules.
  • Performing research activities and preparing reports.
  • Organising itineraries including travel and corporate events.
  • General analysis of data and presentation.
  • Opening, sorting and distributing post.

What you'll need:

  • As you'd expect- be great at admin and IT- and just as important, love doing it!
  • Be great at using Microsoft Office and web- based systems
  • Be positive, proactive and happy to be part of our central team
  • To be articulate, with great writing skills with fantastic spelling, grammar and tone of voice.
  • Be comfortable working on tasks by yourself, whilst being part of a wider team.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be helpful, but not essential.
  • A background in or knowledge of the hospitality industry would be good, but again not essential.

To say thank you, we have many perks:

  • Great salary and benefits- we'll chat about these more during the recruitment process
  • Great office, newly re-developed, to work from in central Bath
  • Just so you know, in our hotels we are proud that everyone who joins our family gets rewarded a rate of pay above the National Living Wage, irrespective of age, plus you get tips on top.
  • Treat yourself once in a while with lots of retail and hospitality perks through our Perkbox platform.
  • Excellent discounts across our family of hotels – you will be entitled to 25% off food & beverage in our hotels plus we offer an amazing staff rate of £25 B&B per person across the group & your friends and family get special rates too.
  • We understand it’s OK not to be OK, so we offer an externally run confidential helpline for any support you require about anything you might need as part of our Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Everyone can learn and develop - our ‘Family First’ development pathways are unique to us and are the best in the business.
  • We provide lots of opportunities for you to develop yourself and your own specific skillset, in your own time.
  • We like to say a special thank you for every year you are with us - our milestone awards include Champagne, afternoon tea, or dinner for you and someone special. When you reach the big milestones, you receive extra special gifts on top like longer hotel stays, extra days off and a unique gift especially chosen for you
