Position Overview & Specifications

This is a unique opportunity in Swindon, for a Registered Learning Disability Nurse, RMN, or OT to work as part of the Specialist Learning Disability And Autism Diagnostic Service. You will join a dynamic and friendly specialist health team with a diverse and interesting skill set, who are spearheading the future development of community services, in Swindon.

You will have monthly clinical and monthly management supervision, as well as excellent training and annual appraisal.

The job will involve providing specialist intervention for people with learning disabilities with complex health needs; including complex physical and mental health conditions and challenging behaviours. You will need to use your core skills to work with those with complex health needs by improving function and supporting carers and other support staff in promoting social inclusion liaising closely with generic services.

Applicants must have experience of undertaking assessments with highly complex individuals, providing highly specialist therapeutic interventions with adults with complex needs and/or enduring mental health problems, as well as having a proven track record of contributing to the development and delivery of innovative, evidence-based initiatives to improve the quality of life of service users.

This role will focus on supporting individuals with complex learning disabilities and in the community. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and you will have access to regular clinical and management supervision to enable you to work autonomously.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to use and develop a number of skills, including leadership skills, complex physical disability and epilepsy depending on their experience and the demands of the service.

Management of a community learning disability caseload, within the Swindon area. This will include complex assessments and care planning and the development risk managements plans. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals who provide holistic, person centred specialist health care. You will have opportunities to lead on projects and participate in service development activities.
