Relationship Development Director
Birmingham


As a Barclays Relationship Development Director, you will use your knowledge to effectively manage, develop, and grow a portfolio within Mid Corporate Banking who support 6000 customers in the UK with an annual turnover of £6.5 million. In your new role, you will be a trusted financial partner with the capabilities to help our customers achieve their ambitions in the right way. You will also proactively maximise opportunities in your local market to attract and gain customers to the Bank.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
  • Conducting regular face to face meetings, and managing a list of target clients in a shadow portfolio and hosting regular meetings
  • Supporting every customer through the channel of their choice continually educating them on the options available for their servicing needs
  • Using your analytical skills to interpret internal information around your marketplace, portfolio, and individual customers to make decisions around your contact strategy
  • Acting with ‘cast iron’ integrity and confidentiality around your local marketplace and the customers with whom you have relationships
  • Ensuring relationships built with risk functions and high quality lending submissions, achievements of Level 3 and accreditations within 12 months
  • Identifying and reporting any risks events ensuring they are escalated when needed to guarantee prompt resolution of any issues
  • Demonstrating ownership and initiative to prevent, handle and resolve any complaints


What we’re looking for:
  • Solid experience of relationship portfolio management, lending money, and knowledge of the Credit Skills to manage the end to end lending process for applications
  • Excellent knowledge level of income drivers and experience of being in a service role and meeting customer needs with appropriate products and propositions
  • Sound understanding of policies and procedures across the Group relevant to Mid Corporate market
  • An up-to-date knowledge of Barclays competition and an excellent understanding of the impact of economic environment on customer’s needs and business


Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Accredited in lending or professional related qualifications
  • Technical knowledge of lending/Zeus/GPT and post sanction fulfilment
  • Industry knowledge and understanding of key drivers for business owners
  • Client portfolio management experience and a successful track record of business development and acquiring new customers

Barclays Snowhill is at the heart of the professional district and commands a workforce of around 1000. With great transport links to Birmingham Grand Central and Snowhill train stations as well as the local metro. Our office has a dedicated staff coffee shop and deli and break out areas for staff.
