Position Overview & Specifications

This is an exceptional opportunity for ten clinicians to become part of this journey, leading digital transformation across the system as Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL). BHRUT office of clinical information is also seeking to recruit doctors to champion the digital drive-in clinical areas as Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) and Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL).

Are you dynamic, enthusiastic, and resilient? Are you fascinated by clinical digital transformation? We are seeking to recruit ten doctors with clinical backgrounds for each of our divisions. Clinical Professionals with a proven track record in digital transformation. The delivery leads will be responsible for supporting the delivery of multiple high-quality projects and major infrastructure projects.

The role is predominately transformational; leading to the innovation and improvement of clinical services through the use of informatics to achieve:
  • Digital empowerment of patients and citizens
  • High quality integrated care with better health outcomes
  • Improved staff satisfaction
  • Part-time
  • Flexible working
These roles facilitate new ways of working through the use of digital and informatics technologies, transforming care delivery across all clinical environments and professions. It requires the postholders to act as ambassadors for the agenda across the system including acting as a spokesperson for the organisation.

Within the Trust: Providing strong clinical leadership for pathway and process redesign, selection of long-term digital solutions and support for clinical training, adoption and optimisation to deliver measurable benefits

With other Acute Trusts in NEL: work with counterparts in Barts and Homerton to build a consistent, high-quality digital infrastructure that supports shared capacity to meet the demand for our population; provides the familiarity of workforce experience, training and development; reduces unwarranted variation and provides scale and leverages digital replication and innovation

With other BHR/NEL health and care partners: Support whole pathway redesign, using digital innovation and continuous improvement to deliver measurable improvements for the patient experience and outcomes along the whole patient pathway.

Specific Trust-wide leadership roles in a wide range of deployment products related to Divisions and improvement projects across the full range of clinical information systems. For example, the Clinical Information Lead for Radiology is expected to lead on the Trust delivery of Ordercom.

Under the leadership of our Chair, Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive we provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in southwest Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and this will be one of the many benefits of our closer collaboration with Barts Health. Working with them and with all our partners across northeast London, we will find a sustainable solution to enhance patient care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
