Position Overview & Specifications
The Site Medical Directorwill determine the key clinical and quality (in conjunction with the Site Director of Nursing) priorities and ensure that these are incorporated into the Trust’s clinical and business strategies as well as being built into our performance management processes. The principle responsibility will be to maintain flow through the hospital through closer working with the clinical groups and community teams.
The Site Medical Directorwill lead on all medical workforce and education issues. This will include the on-going development of our medical leadership, as well as providing leadership and guidance to all clinical staff within the Trust.

- To take a leading role in the development of partnership working across patient pathways with other NHS organisations and partners. To represent the Trust externally and to work where appropriate with stakeholders to establish good working relationships with the local CCG/ICS and local clinical leaders
- Work closely with the senior site management team of Chief Executive, Director of Operations and Chief Nurse, the Divisional leadership teams to ensure delivery of high quality, safe and responsive care across all services. For example, assessing and reviewing the medical workforce needs across the hospital against the operational and strategic demands.
- Provide strategic advice and direction to the Chief Executive and Divisional Directors on the deployment of staffing and safe levels of medical staffing.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.

The post holder will play a key role in the promotion of the Trust’s services to key stakeholders and act as a key ambassador for the Trust.
With the Site Director of Nursing, the post holder will take responsibility for all patient safety and quality within the hospital.
In collaboration with the Site Director of Nursing, the Site Medical Directorwill establish and agree the standards and processes for clinical practice required to deliver the quality agenda, including outcome and service measures, and they will determine and implement the audit requirements to ensure all the key standards are met.
The Site Medical Directorwill take the Executive lead on ensuring the delivery of our Quality Improvement Plan.
The Site Medical Directorwill have responsibility for leading the implementation and delivery of the Clinical Transformation Programme as part of the North East London ICBICB, within the framework of the Trust Strategy and other supporting strategies.
