Position Overview & Specifications

Job description

Please note that this role can be based in London or Salford, Manchester.

QuarterFive are partnering with BBC Children in Need to find an individual giving specialist to play a pivotal role in their new audience and engagement strategy, diversifying their income streams and launching individual giving.

BBC Children in Need is here to make sure that every child has the childhood they deserve – and the support they need to thrive. They are committed to funding the grassroots organisations and project workers across the UK that provide the vital positive relationships children need to help them navigate the challenges in their lives.

In 2021/22, the organisation supported over 450,000 children and young people across the UK who are affected by issues and challenges including poverty, disability, marginalisation, abuse, trauma or loss. In total, 2,183 projects were funded to the value of £154.4M.

With a change in TV watching habits and audience demographics, there is a need for new and innovative ways to engage audiences, particularly young professionals and young families. The initial aim is to launch a regular giving product – a first for BBC Children in Need. The Fundraising Lead – Individuals will play a pivotal role by working on the co-creation of the individual giving programme, working closely with agency support and the Head of Fundraising Engagement. Budget has been set aside and there is full support and buy-in from all levels of the organisation.

As Fundraising Lead – Individuals, you will:

  • Lead the development of the individual giving strategy for BBC Children in Need, including the development of an action plan for the next 3 years to grow fundraising income through the introduction of new products
  • Work with an external agency and the Head of Fundraising to develop donor cultivation strategies, i.e. upgrades, cash to direct debit conversion and legacy pledges
  • Work with the Marketing team to deliver integrated campaigns across all Individual Giving streams
  • Build, manage and maintain strong supporter journeys across a range of digital and direct products, to grow each segment of supporters
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling cases for support to increase fundraising income and communicate our brand purpose
  • Lead on the strategy and overseeing the delivery of the Mid-Value donor communications and engagement programme
  • Line manage any future fundraising staff within the team

The role would best suit an individual giving specialist with:

  • Experience in developing a regular giving product
  • Strong understanding and delivery of excellent supporter stewardship
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyse donor data to inform strategies and decision making
  • Understanding of the latest trends in Social Media and Digital Marketing best practice
  • Strong experience of implementing successful fundraising campaigns, including all aspects of campaign management
  • Budgeting/Forecasting experience

Flexible working requests considered, including compressed hours. Open to part-time working - please enquire.
