Position Overview & Specifications
The successful candidate will join our small team of Clinical Psychologists, which include a Consultant lead Clinical Psychologist, 0.8WTE 8a Clinical Psychologists and two band 7 Clinical Psychologists.
This post is fixed term for 9 months to meet the needs of the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Under regular supervision from a Clinical Psychologist, you will be involved in and will develop skills in psychological assessment and specific targeted therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families with a broad range of emotional and behavioural issues associated with a health condition or medically unexplained / persistent physical symptoms. The role will also involve close working with other multidisciplinary team members e.g. specialist nurses across a number of medical teams and / or physical health conditions. In addition, the post may include some psychometric testing and supporting some group-based interventions if appropriate. There may also be opportunities for early intervention and prevention work within our population. This may include developing resources for children and families and our MDT colleagues. There will also be the opportunity to participate in audit, research and service development projects.
The team has excellent links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme (Bangor University) and regularly supervise trainee Clinical Psychologists from this programme and contribute to programme teaching.
Applicants should have a Psychology degree (2.1 or higher) and experience of working with children and adolescents within a health care or educational setting.
