Addiction Services

  • *BHT Sussex’s Addiction Services (Detox Support Project and Recovery Project) provide a residential treatment programme for people with a history of drug and/or alcohol addiction. The project is based on the 12 Step fellowship programme and aims to support clients in gaining and maintaining on-going abstinence.

Salary: £10.90 per hour
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 15:30 – 22:00
*Weekends 09:00 – 12:00 / 15:00 – 22:00

Job Description
As Bank Support Worker, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission is ‘combating homelessness, creating opportunities, promoting change.
You will be required to:

  • Facilitate check-in and wind-down groups at the beginning and end of every shift.
  • Collect, record, and dispense medication in accordance with BHT Sussex policy and procedure. (Training is provided).
  • Offer and provide 1-1 support to clients throughout the shift.
  • Deliver support using a range of methods to ensure clients feel safe and secure and are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Collaborating with clients to meet their support needs by providing an empathetic and responsive person-centred approach.
  • Carry out all duties with due regard to health and safety and safeguarding responsibilities, reporting any concerns in line with BHT Sussex policies and procedures.
  • Issuing, recording, and reconciling petty cash and food money receipts.
  • *About you:

To be successful in the role of Bank Support Worker you will have:

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding addiction
  • Experience in managing challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to adults
  • Ability to respond calmly and practically to incidents and write clear handover notes.
  • Competent use of Microsoft software packages especially Word and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Professional approach and attitude to supporting clients.
