Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate person to continue to develop our wonderful Spiritual Care service and to lead our team who provide for the religious, spiritual and pastoral needs of our service users families and staff throughout our mental health trust.

Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, Spiritual Care Team, comprises of members from a diverse range of faith backgrounds and of no religious traditions. We are a committed and supportive team who respect each other and who work well together to achieve the desired outcome of providing compassionate spiritual care support to our patients and staff. We are a modern, forward thinking team, who work in a variety of ways to provide excellent spiritual care. We are team players with the professional responsibility to be able to work flexibly and have autonomy to ensure the service we provide is of a high standard.

To lead, develop and manage an effective, safe and timely service which facilitates service users and carers in requesting and receiving spiritual care, with specific responsibility for spiritual care facilitators, practitioners and chaplains.

To manage and oversee the delivery of the Family Support Service

To establish effective systems for recording and reporting activity of the spiritual care team so that robust data and feedback are available to inform future service needs.

To ensure that the spiritual care service is reflective of best practise, delivering high quality care which is in line with emerging evidence in best practice.

To govern implementation of the spiritual care policy proving expert advice to the operational teams

To proactively engage service users and carers in improving systems and overall quality of service including the establishment and maintenance of an advisory panel.
