Position Overview & Specifications
- Technical feature development for advanced systems towards meeting performance and international legislative requirements
- Plan, execute and evaluate system performance measurements on bench, engine dynamometer, performance rigs, vehicles and in climate chamber
- Project manage calibration builds towards internal testing and evaluation and customer release
- Define system performance targets
- Support the Team Leader as appropriate in dealing with customers and cross-functional teams
- Represent the calibration function as a key input into System Integration
- Characterise existing and new products
- Compile technical reports and presentations for review with senior stakeholders
- Support the software team in developing control strategies, and developing efficient and effective designs solutions in order to meet system performance requirements
- Support Hazard analysis, FMEA and fault tree analysis
- Develop calibration guidelines for internal and customer use
- Develop rigorous and robust calibration and sign-off procedures
- Provide technical expertise during customer meetings
- On or Offsite customer support as necessary
- Dependent on experience
- Strong communication skills being able to communicate clearly via email, reports and presentations
- Strong organisation skills
- Strong coaching/mentoring skills
- Self-starter, proactive and results driven
- Ability to work under pressure and manage several tasks concurrently
- Continuous improvement and quality mind-set, and attention to detail
- Educated to a minimum of degree level in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or similar
- An in-depth appreciation or knowledge of, or a minimum 5 years’ calibration development experience in a powertrain development environment
- Structured quality disciplines such as Six Sigma
- Sound mechanical understanding of fuel injection equipment and fluid dynamics
- Understanding of hydraulic systems
- Experience with calibration processes and tool-chains such as ATI Vision, ETAS Inca, AVL CRETA
- 27 days holiday + bank holidays
