Position Overview & Specifications

To support the Senior Workforce Planner in the development and production of long term (5-year) workforce models/ plans for each service within the Trust and work alongside peers to embed the Trust’s strategic workforce planning process. To support workforce planning within the Trust by collaborating with key stakeholders and colleagues to develop and implement workforce plans in line with National, Regional, Trust and Operational services objectives.

The post holder will demonstrate skilled and technical workforce planning knowledge to support the Senior Workforce Planner in guiding the wider Workforce Planning and Rostering team to enhance the existing suite of workforce planning tools to ensure they are fit for purpose and adequately inform the organisation.
  • • Support development and execute implementation of processes and procedures for the Workforce Planning team to analyse workforce data and apply to the context of long term forecasting, trends and scenario planning for workforce redesign
  • Supports the Senior Workforce Planner in ensuring that workforce plans are developed with the services and delivered within the confines of the designated financial constraints.
  • Support and contribute to the development of workforce planning tools that will enhance workforce planning processes (to align workforce, finance and activity analysis)
  • Present and provide narrative of workforce plans, based on interpretations made from analysis of complex data.
  • Provide advice, support and workforce planning expertise to service managers
  • Identify interrelations between information and data sets e.g. population data and workforce data, workforce data and activity data, and design
  • Support the Workforce Planning and Rostering team in the use of available information systems to their fullest (e.g. Business Intelligence in ESR and HealthRoster information)
  • Oversee and plan the interrogation of workforce information to identify trends
  • Ensure the workforce Planning team schedule and deliver forecasting information on workforce trends against a number of indicators, e.g. Labour turnover, retirement patterns to aid the production of workforce plans at service level.
  • Deputise for the Senior Workforce Planner as appropriate
  • Support the Senior Workforce Planner in contributing to the delivery of advice, reports and papers for both internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Evaluate current ways of working and develop and deliver action plan to effect improvements
  • Contribute to the review, improvement and operation of internal processes to ensure the efficient running of the department
  • Consult with customers within the Trust in establishing reporting requirements, standards and priorities and support the Senior Workforce Planner in developing and implementing. Monitor perception and satisfaction identifying innovative ways of improving and developing service delivery.
  • Attend regular meetings with stakeholders, Finance, Payroll, Service Management, to ensure objectives regarding the quality of data are being met and that the use of workforce information supports the Trust’s objectives in the best way possible.
  • Work with the HR Systems team to ensure development and implementation of robust processes to improve and maintain the data held in workforce systems is accurate and up to date.
  • Recruit and select personnel where appropriate
  • Assess and plan the work of individuals and provide feedback on the work of individuals, where appropriate
  • Contribute to the development and achievement of objectives of individuals where appropriate
