Position Overview & Specifications

Arts Development officer required - fixed term and part time.

This is a 2 year fixed term post with Caerphilly County Borough Council Arts development team. Working on developing creative activities for residents within Caerphilly County Borough that deliver on CCBC core priorities. The role involves developing activity in underserved communities where arts activity is low with a focus on participation and wellbeing. We aim to fulfil Welsh Governments core aim of making all citizens more creatively active and be a proactive advocate of arts provision as a tool for change. The applicant will need to be educated to a degree level and have an understanding of the arts sector.

Arts Development is a small team based in Blackwood Miners Institute. Work will be carried out at the venue, at home and in the community with occasional evening or weekend work, so car use is essential.


The applicant must be comfortable with admin tasks and have skills in office software, social media and project planning to develop and promote the work.

The post holder should be able to work with a range of people in the arts, funders and in the community with a particular focus on wellbeing and community engagement. Developing and maintain relationships, evaluation and planning are core elements of the post.
