Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated part-time/full-time persons to work at our takeaway unit serving sandwiches, hot and cold food and ice-cream.

Job Purpose

As a takeaway assistant, you are crucial to the smooth running and success of all aspects of our café environment and are highly valued. Some key responsibilities to ensure the business runs smoothly include taking customer orders, maintaining clean work environments, and great customer services. The right candidate must enjoy a fast and friendly environment with the ability to serve great quality food under pressure, whilst being friendly, polite, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serving customers efficiently within the takeaway unit, serving of hot and cold beverages, hot meals, ice cream and other food items.
  • Cash handling and using the till.
  • Preparing and cleaning of the takeaway work area before, during and at the end of service to ensure it is ready for the next day.
  • Deliver an exceptional level of customer service with the ability to build rapport with customers, building solid relationships resulting in repeat business.
  • Being knowledgeable about the products and services sold, giving advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to customers to ensure a positive experience.
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables, maintaining stock rotation, restocking as needed.
  • Providing assistance to other colleagues, as needed.
  • Managing queues and meeting customer expectations.
  • Actively promote and sell products and services. Upsell to maximise profit.
  • Following company policies and adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Capable of taking on a supervisory role.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively with other colleagues.
  • Till experience is preferred.
  • Thorough attention to detail, excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Team player skills, assisting other colleagues when necessary.
  • Experience and enthusiasm to contribute and fully support the running of the cafe, combined with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Highly ambitious with a desire to playing a key role in the continued growth and success of the business.
  • Deliver an exceptional level of customer service with the ability to build rapport with customers, building solid relationships resulting in repeat business.
  • Be willing to learn, take instruction and work under own initiative.

Experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

Salary: Excellent rate of pay.
