Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for Health Care Assistants!

The post holder will provide support and care for service users with physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting. You will undertake assigned tasks under general supervision of a registered nurse, including assisting in assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. We work on a 24hour rotational pattern.

You will be expected to help patients with personal care ,where and when needed and demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect and compassion at all times. Ensuring the entries made by the post holder in the nursing notes are current, relevant and accurate. Basic computer literacy is essential for the role.

The job includes listening and talking to patients/relatives/carers. observing patients behaviour, providing close observation to ensure patient safety (one to one), encouraging them with eating, drinking and personal hygiene.

The successful applicant will have interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives remaining sensitive and empathetic.

You may be required to undertake and successfully complete the new national Care Certificate within a 12 weeks’ timeframe if you meet our criteria. You will receive full training and support and The Care Certificate sets out 15 national care standards that must be achieved by all health and social care staff to demonstrate that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe and excellent quality of care. It is a foundation programme which can provide the first steps to career development within the NHS.

  • Maintaining patient privacy , by use use of appropriate available aids, e.g. screens, curtains etc.
  • To understand the importance of the relatives /Carers, establishing their needs and assisting them as necessary.
  • Will be involved in the delivery and coordination of ward activities.
  • Carries out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of: and supervised by, a registered nurse/Occupational Therapist.
