Position Overview & Specifications

The Welsh Regional Neuropsychiatry Service enables and supports survivors of an acquired brain injury (ABI) to identify, monitor and take pride in achieving each recovery milestones by supporting and facilitating both the person and their family to successfully meet the challenges of coping with the changes in role that are consequential to ABI.

An exciting and innovative position has occurred within the Neuropsychiatry Inpatient Service, for a band 2 Health Care Support Worker to facilitate recovery process in a specialist and in therapeutic environment. They will be required to work with MDT and as part of the team both on the unit and in the community. This will require a self-motivated, caring, patient and flexible personal approach. Training and ongoing education will be provided with clinical supervision.

The post holder will provide help and care in basic activities of daily living of social and emotional support to the client group under the supervision and direction of a Registered Mental Nurse.

They will undertake identified allocated tasks in relation to the care environment, and in relation to the direct care of the patient / client group.

They will aid all clients as far as is necessary in daily activities of hygiene, dressing, diet and encouraging social activities and providing emotional support..

Doing everything possible to ensure the comfort and consideration of the client and family or friends and to relate with kindness and sympathy to all concerned.

To attend and contribute towards multi-disciplinary meetings, having input into future management of patients. They will assist the rehabilitation process through assessment of patients’ abilities in cooking, domestic skills, budgeting, social skills etc and providing supervision and support as necessary.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
