1.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Assessment, treatment and management of pre-school children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and oral stage eating and drinking difficulties in a range of paediatric settings.
2.
Delivery of training to parents and professionals on a range of topics related to SLCN
Our early years team is well established and we work collaboratively with other agencies to empower settings to create and sustain communication supportive environments and to develop targeted and specialist provision for children with identified SLCN. This is achieved through a combination of consultation, training, assessment and intervention packages. Within the early years team we offer support in community clinics, the child’s home as well as in early years settings. Our service is jointly commissioned by health and education, allowing us to provide a seamless pathway of care from early years through to schools, specialist provisions and further education settings.
We use a wide variety of evidence-based therapy approaches with children, for example, staff are trained to use Hanen It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words programmes and Palin Parent Child Interaction Therapy to support young children who stammer.
We are a forward-thinking service committed to ongoing development, embracing change and innovation and driven by evidence-based practice. We place high emphasis on clinical supervision and pastoral needs with personalised CPD opportunities.
