Position Overview & Specifications

The Procurement Sourcing and Contracting Specialist role is to manage and run sourcing projects by collaborating with business stakeholders and procurement portfolio leads to achieve the best commercial outcome for Centrica. The sourcing projects are managed end to end from strategy development to tender/e-auction through contracting and handover back to the portfolio lead for BAU management.

Location - Flexible, can be UK Homebased

The Role

  • Create go to market strategies working with Procurement Portfolio leads and business stakeholders utilising understanding of market dynamics using tools such as Porters Five Forces and Kraljic when establishing go to market strategies and cost drivers for the goods/services/technology being procured
  • Project manage sourcing events including the development of scope, creation and management of the tender and risk management collaborating with all relevant risk SMEs
  • Develop strategies for e-auctions
  • Lead commercial negotiations taking account of varied requirements from a broad range of stakeholders
  • Lead contract drafting and negotiation of procurement contracts, minimising risk for Centrica through understanding the key risk clauses for the goods in question in collaboration with Commercial Legal and specialists’ legal teams
  • Support the Portfolio lead in the development of SRM frameworks in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Manage contract governance process in collaboration with business stakeholders (Group Contracts Committee)

The Person

  • Degree level in procurement, business and 2+ years relevant work experience or relevant discipline or 3+ years appropriate work experience (working in a large scale procurement organisation)
  • MCIPS or ISM are desirable but not necessary
  • Ability to translate stakeholder requirements and market dynamics into a robust sourcing strategy
  • Strategic thinking and ability to articulate how the sourcing strategy will meet the business need and deliver the best value for Centrica
  • Competent in commercial and negotiation
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Project management experience
