Position Overview & Specifications

Import/Export Manager

MAIN PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE
  • Oversee and Manage the Import/Export Dept.
  • Ensure and maintain concise written instructions for all Import and Export procedures
  • Maintain and renew when required all Special Procedure authorizations and licenses.
  • Organize and ensure compliance checks on customs entries.
  • Manage regular internal audits on HMRC entries and special procedures
  • Provide support to the Import/Export department to facilitate the transfer of goods for temporary and permanent export and imports between international markets.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the business internally and externally.
  • Provide internal support and organize training, when necessary, on all import and export related enquiries.
  • Keep up to date with all HMRC rules and regulations including changes relating to FTAs.
  • Keep up to date with all Irish Customs import and export requirements
  • Ensure all rules and regulations when shipping to N.I are adhered to.

  • Consult with Freight forwarders/Couriers to ensure SOPs and KPIs are being adhered to.
  • Organize and provide training relating to international shipments for other Chanel departments

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Prior experience in import/export operations, experience in managing & developing a team is crucial. A solid understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, documentation, and logistics.
Strong knowledge and understanding of import/export regulations, compliance requirements, and trade agreements are essential. Familiarity with customs procedures, tariff classifications, import/export licenses, and international shipping practices is important.
A good understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and transportation processes. Understanding the intricacies of freight forwarding, inventory management, shipping methods, and distribution networks.
Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively coordinate with suppliers, customers, customs officials, and other stakeholders across international borders.
Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address challenges such as customs issues, shipping delays, and regulatory compliance.
Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing priorities. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure smooth operations and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in relevant software applications such as customs management systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, and spreadsheet tools is valuable for efficient import/export operations and data management.
