Position Overview & Specifications
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills to join us as an Income Officer.
This role will be responsible for maximising Cheltenham Borough Homes’ rental and service charge income across a range of tenures. The successful candidate will manage rent and service charge accounts from beginning to end, providing a comprehensive debt recovery service. This will include management of former tenant arrears and rechargeable invoices, collection of outstanding current arrears and taking enforcement action as and when necessary.
You will be required to work in partnership with appropriate agencies to ensure maximum benefit take-up, to reduce debt, and to promote CBH services. This includes liaising with Housing Benefit and DWP staff to ensure tenants benefit claims are processed without undue delay.
In addition to the above, you will prepare court statements and report paperwork for submission to Legal Services and instruct Legal services as to what money judgements are required and any subsequent enforcement action. You will also represent Cheltenham Borough Homes in County Court.
The successful candidate will be able to manage their own workload but work effectively within a team. The Income Team utilise agile working in a manner that enables a balance of office working and home working, with an expectation that the successful candidate would attend the office at least once per week, in addition to team meetings.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
- Ability to organise and prioritise personal workload, and to work with minimal supervision in high pressurised situations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with people of all ages, and at all levels and abilities
- Ability to negotiate in what may sometimes be difficult and/or sensitive circumstances
- Able to empathise, communicate and work with those with complex backgrounds
- A good knowledge and practical experience of IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Salary: £30,435.00-£32,021.00 per year
