Position Overview & Specifications

Are you an organised, proactive individual with great communication skills and the ability to influence others?
Then this might be your next role.
CIMSPA is the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector, committed to supporting, developing and enabling professionals and organisations to succeed and, as a result, inspire our nation to become more active.
Together we’re developing a vibrant, UK-wide sport and physical activity sector, with the highest standards of service delivery.
Our engagement with Sporting Bodies is moving to the next level to ensure we are providing an initiative-taking, energetic, sustainable and professional service to sporting partners, enabling them to join our ambitious journey.
The Workforce Governance and Sporting Bodies Manager (WGSBM) role will play an integral part as a key member of the Workforce Governance and Sporting Bodies department to meet our objectives and those of the sector. They will be working with multiple sporting organisations across the UK to support them with their people and workforce strategies through good workforce governance.
These sporting body relationships are primarily focused on amplifying the catalysts in the ‘Uniting the Movement Strategy’, whilst also being connected to the Sport England ‘Coaching Blueprint’ and importantly, linked to Sport England’s and UK Sport Policy response to the Whyte Review. The intent is to introduce an ‘integrated framework’ for the sector that has people, leadership, and workforce governance at the heart of workforce development, whilst also considering and recognising business performance.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to be a part of an exciting future and system change as we drive the development of a recognised, respected and inclusive sport and physical activity sector.
Key tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and management of a programme of support, development and self-assessment for Sporting and National Governing Bodies (SGB/NGBs).
  • Lead, develop and support the Sporting and National Governing Bodies (SGB/NGBs) in the identification and implementation of any interventions (solutions) that relate to Workforce Governance.
  • Developing and managing sustainable partnerships, whilst creating new opportunities for engagement with all sporting bodies through contracts and memorandums of understanding with systems partners.
  • Provide high quality responses to enquiries and develop strong, meaningful, and reciprocal relationships with strategic and system partners such as Sporting and National Governing Body Partners.
  • Maintain day-to-day relationships between partners and CIMSPA internal departments ensuring commitments align to the strategic objectives of CIMSPA.
  • Ensure there is department compliance with CIMSPA systems and processes, leading the internal audit for the department, and maintaining the risk register.
