Project Manager - IT

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity within Cantium for a Project Manager to join the team.

The Project Manager will be dealing with small to medium-sized IT based projects and will take full responsibility for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of the projects also identifying, assessing and managing the risks. The post holder must have the ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and provide end-to-end financial accountability, including the provision of accurate appropriate and timely budget reporting and client charging.

Key Duties

• Ensure that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate. Monitor costs, timescales and resources used, and take action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensure that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.
• Manage the change control procedure and ensure that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gain agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors
• Define the series and sequence of activities to bring stakeholders to the required level of commitment, prior to go-live.
• Provide effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. Take appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business.
• Effectively estimate costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to agreed terms of reference.

What we need from you

• Prince2 Foundation and /or APM foundation or relevant experience
• Experience delivering projects to external customers
• Experience of managing Waterfall / PRINCE 2 projects
• Experience in a directly relevant field for example, MSP or Local Authority IT related projects
• Proficient in the application and techniques for Programme and Project delivery
• Knowledge of the functional structure of businesses and other organizations; their mission, objectives, strategies and critical success factors
• Familiar with the business environment relating to own sphere of work (KCC and suppliers, customers and partners), in particular those aspects of the business which the team is to support
• Proficient in theory, current practice and latest developments in the relevant field of computer science, telecommunications, software engineering or information systems
• Acquiring understanding of the underlying issues in complex problems or situations by correctly relating these to simpler or better understood concepts, models or previous experiences
