Role Overview & Responsibilities

Connected Carers is a brand new start-up funded by Innovate UK, and we're in the process of finalising our community platform.

We're looking for a Wordpress Developer to join us part-time, 10-20 hours per week, to help complete and customise our platform ready to onboard our first major charity communities.

Ideally you would be available for an immediate or short-term start.

We'll need your help to add custom functionality not provided out of the box by the BuddyBoss community platform theme, such as:

  • Building a custom dashboard for each user that visualises their self-reported wellness, mental health data
  • Building our onboarding and regular data gathering flow, to gather data from community members at set intervals
  • Making the website and platform accessible for users with visual or hearing impairments
  • Creating and publishing app bundles for Android and iOS, via the BuddyBoss app generation functionality (turning our website into React Native apps)
  • Developing a feature to make dynamic / custom recommendations for user-to-user connections, based on demographics, conditions, circumstances etc., to help people find the best connections
  • Customising the platform to meet the moderation and other requirements of charity partners that want to move their community to the CC platform

Working Arrangements

This will be a remote, part-time role, with an expected commitment of 10-20 hours per week on an ongoing basis.

You’ll be working directly with the 2 co-founders - Jack Jenkins (head of product and communities) and Dr Simon Wan Yau Ming (head of research and business development). We also have a top-class designer available to provide any design required.

This may evolve into a full-time role by mutual agreement, should business needs for site development and maintenance increase.
