Position Overview & Specifications

We are recruiting a Kennels and cattery assistant to help run country house kennels & cattery and daycare LU6 3QS. We offer dog daycare, dog grooming & dog & cat boarding; and are looking for A Team Player to enhance our friendly and caring team.

This is a fast paced, physically demanding job, a can-do, positive attitude is a must!

Responsibilities include: Monitoring and managing play groups of dogs to ensure safe play while avoiding injury. Also teaching dogs how to interact with others and learn manners while socialising to help dogs develop recall and basic obedience commands like sit, wait, Assisting with regular handling of dogs of various sizes (XS-XL) throughout the day ensuring general cleanliness of the outdoor and indoor areas, including regular poo pick up, disinfecting, cleaning dishes, changing water, cleaning the facility as needed, feeding, administering medication correctly including injections and tablet form medication, painting repairing kennels and general upkeep of kennels and cattery buildings and general customer service duties, which includes occasionally greeting clients at time of pick up and drop off, dealing with payments and using our software. Rinsing/bathing & basic grooming of dogs.

Our ideal candidate; Is comfortable in physically demanding environments, comfortable working in all types of weather conditions, experience in this field is a must must be eager to learn and further their knowledge in the pet care industry, a keen interest in dog behaviour, body language, and positive reinforcement training techniques to encourage safe play between dogs, can work in a team as well as independently. Has reliable transportation to get to and from our facility within the shift time ranges, comfortable with dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds. Must be flexible our busiest days are weekends, all bank holidays including Christmas which you must be available for. Working hours on average are 15-50 hours per week an average working day is between 5-11 hours per day starting from 7am -10pm.
