Position Overview & Specifications
We are excited to announce we have an opportunity for a professional Gardner/ Estate Worker. This is a great opportunity for a focused individual to succeed in this very exciting opportunity working for a private family in the heart of the Cotswolds.
To carry out maintenance of the gardens and all other horticultural tasks on the Estate to a professional standard.
To assist the Head Gardener with the planting programmes, to provide seasonal interest within the borders, and prepare annual maintenance schedules for the borders, trees and lawns.
Monitor and maintain the health of plants in the extensive herbaceous beds, including pruning, staking, feeding and spraying.
To maintain lawn areas including irrigating, reseeding, fertilizing and scarifying.
Weeding, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, edging, pruning, bed preparation, planting, hedge-cutting, cross cutting and felling of small trees.
The use of hand tools and basic light machinery and plant.
To inspect the estate vehicles on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure that all are operationally sound and maintained in accordance with the maintenance schedule and inspection sheets.
The use of mowers, strimmers, hedge-cutters, chainsaws and leaf blowers.
To be aware of Health and Safety requirements noting that all duties must be carried out to comply with current Health & Safety at Work legislation.
To report any defect or Health and Safety concerns, no matter what its nature to the Head Gardener immediately.
To keep all tools and equipment clean and in good order, reporting any defects or repairs required to the Head Gardener.
To be aware of and report any security risks posed within the Estate.
To apply chemicals where appropriate on the Gardens.
Checking the health of plants by identifying any pests or diseases and controlling them.
Minimum NVQ level 2 in Amenity Horticulture OR a proven record of maintaining grounds to a high standard.
PA1 & PA6 Chemical spray certificate
