Position Overview & Specifications

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated professional to provide; initial assessment, practical assistance, signposting and advice to students and staff in relation to students who are experiencing mental health difficulties. The ability to work collaboratively both within the University and with many other external mental health providers is an essential prerequisite of this role. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and established team and contribute to the work of the wider Health and Wellbeing Team.

This post will be attractive to those with a substantial background in Mental Health and seeking an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative and progressive environment. Coventry University is a dynamic, global and enterprising University committed to offering high standards in a range of student support services.

The successful applicant will be the first point of contact for students who are presenting with moderate to acute mental health issues. They will also offer other staff members advice information and support associated with working with students experiencing mental health difficulties. The post holder will be required to manage a caseload of students, responding to students causing significant concern. You must be confident in managing students at immediate risk of self- harm and/or suicidal behaviour, whilst also being able to support other members of staff and be experienced enough to refer appropriately to external organisations as required. In addition to researching and developing appropriate resources for students experiencing mental health difficulties, there will be an expectation to engage with relevant mental health and well-being initiatives.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in NHS/ local authority or Higher Education. We would welcome applications from individuals with experience of running groups and workshops. In order to satisfy the unpredictable demands of the service a willingness to work in a flexible manner is required.
