Role Overview & Responsibilities

Crain Communications is seeking a junior marketer who is fluent in the German language to join the Automobilwoche team.

The Marketing Assistant / Associate will play an important role by assisting with the implementation of integrated marketing campaigns that support events, award programs, webinars/livestreams, custom content, and products.

The ideal candidate must be a native German speaker (or near-native proficiency), intrinsically collaborative and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will partner with internal teams in Germany and the UK, including Events, Sales, Editorial, Custom Content, and Creative to ensure marketing programs deliver value to our partners and customers alike.

We are looking for a candidate based in Europe, who is comfortable working from a home office while maintaining regular online contact with internal teams, but who also understands that attending and covering events – and hence travel - is a part of the job.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Creation and evaluation of advertising success checks and other analyses.
  • Maintenance and optimization of the subscription website.
  • Ensure consistency across creative and messaging by collaborating with external and internal team members from various departments, including events, sales and editorial.
  • Support in the organization and supervision of trade fair appearances.
  • Work with marketing management and editorial/sales staff to execute social media deliverables.
  • Track, analyze and report on data regarding campaign efforts and success.
  • Optimize marketing plans on an ongoing basis, leveraging performance-based insights to drive improvements.
  • Support strategies to grow and retain audiences, in collaboration with marketing teams.
  • Administrative tasks including maintaining the database, mail list, processing of customer inquiries and preparing quotations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, business, communications, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant marketing experience, preferably in a B2B marketing position.
  • Native German speaker (or near-native proficiency, particularly in writing).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of integrated marketing including channel, creative, operations and brand.
  • Experience leveraging marketing technologies and platforms to execute and measure campaigns (Email, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Zoom, Google & Adobe Analytics).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize and recommend where campaign improvements could be made.
  • Good project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Deadline driven with ability to complete tasks and deliver quickly.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, executing in the short term while developing long-term strategies.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Ability to effectively manage across multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization.

Preferences

  • A working knowledge of English.
  • Prior experience in media or publishing industry.
  • Events marketing experience.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
  • Experience using project management software.

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
