Description
A global specialty chemicals company is looking for a Microbiologist to join its team.
You will be responsible for performing microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. You will also be assisting with culture collection development, maintenance, and supporting the business with microbial safety and quality issues.
The successful candidate will have a microbiology background or similar, along with commercial experience working within a laboratory environment.
The Role
Ensure compliance with the company’s Health and safety programs by proactively identifying, reporting on, and improving safety-related issues in the local laboratory area.
Perform microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
Conduct Biocide Efficacy testing studies in support of the business.
Culture collection development and maintenance
To support the business with microbial safety and quality issues
Support with the timely investigation of customer complaints and other sources of nonconforming work
Carry out Plant hygiene audits in order to identify processes, practices, equipment, and raw materials that contribute to microbial contamination.
Plan and execute project work to develop applications and knowledge.
Liaise with internal and external contacts as necessary to track and communicate service activity status.
Develop and maintain awareness in relevant technical fields.
Provide technical support to operations, R&D, sales, quality, and regulations as required.
Sample log-in and reporting using the LIMS system.
Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology or related field (Biology, Biochemistry)
Commercial Laboratory Work Experience
Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Knowledge of preservative efficacy testing and testing for biocides.
Working knowledge of HPLC techniques.
Experience working in an accredited laboratory.
