Graphic Designer

The Company:

Customworks is a leading supplier of gift products to cultural, heritage and tourism markets. We are an established business of 25 years+ with clear plans for our next phase of growth. We are currently seeking an experienced graphic designer / illustrator to join our small team in Bo’ness. Working in a busy but relaxed environment, you will be joining a company where strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do – with customers, with suppliers and of course with our staff.

The job:

This role requires a wide range of skills, from product concepts to 3D visuals and finished artwork. The projects you will be working on will vary between bespoke product and packaging design for key accounts as well as internal brand and marketing development. As such, we require a high level of creative/illustrative skill alongside core competencies in graphic design.

The ideal candidate:

You will have expert knowledge of current design software including Quark Xpress and the Adobe Suite of Photoshop, Illustratior and InDesign. You will be experienced in each step of the design process from concept to final delivery, creating unique visuals to engage, inform, inspire and delight our customers.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent composition and visual design skills, with a clear understanding of typography principles and the core elements of design; conceptual, visual, relational and practical.

We are looking for someone with exceptional communication and messaging skills. Each design brief must be translated into a tangible representation of each customer’s unique story, finding just the right style, tone, colour and layout to create an instant connection.

You must have a keen eye for detail and an artworkers patient approach to proof-reading and fine-tuning your finished work.

You will be self-motivated and commercially minded, with a flexible and collaborative mindset suited to our company ethos of partnership across all areas of the business. You will have strong communication skills, remain calm, positive and helpful under pressure and have an ability to organise and prioritise your own workload to meet required deadlines.

Education and experience:

You will have a relevant degree in graphic design / illustration and a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.

Some experience in photography and video editing would be advantageous.
