The Role

  • Preparation, supervision and administration of anaesthesia, locoregional techniques, sedation, and, multimodal analgesia to cats and dogs

Manchester Veterinary Specialists is a busy, specialist led, orthopaedic referral-only practice in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, with close access to the M60 (Manchester ring road), M62, M6 and M56 motorways and easy links to London, Edinburgh, and many areas of natural beauty including the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District, and, Lake District. We are looking for a Clinical Veterinary Anaesthetist to provide fixed-term (maternity cover) within our friendly and supportive team. In addition to our current Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia (Dip.ECVAA), you will work alongside our three Specialists in Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery (Dip.ECVS), one residency trained veterinary surgeon and a highly experienced, dedicated and compassionate team of nurses, surgical technicians and support staff. Our aim is to provide exceptional care to both pets and owners. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who wants to learn and develop their anaesthesia practice. Your responsibilities will include the preparation, supervision and administration of anaesthesia, locoregional techniques, sedation and analgesia to cats and dogs undergoing orthopaedic examinations/procedures. Applicants must be Members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

To be successful you will have:

  • Experience in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia – ideal for a post-residency or Advanced Veterinary Practitioner candidate
  • Current RCVS registration (MRCVS) or eligibility to be so registered
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom
  • Availability from the beginning of August 2023
  • A collaborative, team focused approach to anaesthesia
  • Excellent English language communication skills
