We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, experienced and inspirational Deputy Head of House to join our pastoral team with the expertise, vision and people skills to lead and inspire our students.

A strong pastoral system forms the heart of our school and this is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution within the context of school aims, policies and practices that promote progress, achievement and the welfare of students.

The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to the leadership and management of a House. They will work closely with the Head of House managing students and working with the team of tutors to further develop the delivery of pastoral care and systems for monitoring students’ progress. The role involves supporting the Head of House and normally taking lead responsibility for two year groups – Year 7/8. The post-holder will also deputise for the Head of House when absent.

Lytchett Minster is a successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school with approximately 1550 students, 288 of whom are in the successful sixth form. The learning environment is stunning with extensive and beautiful grounds; the school site is comprised of South Lytchett Manor House together with a number of modern extensions including the Arts block and theatre. We pride ourselves on our high standards and positive ethos, the school is popular and highly regarded in the community.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure and acceptable references.

The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.
