A Process Operator is required to join an industry-leading chemical manufacturing company that manufactures a wide range of high-quality derivatives for global supply into a broad range of different industries including water treatment, oil and gas, food and agriculture. This is an exciting time to join a stable, growing organisation that with a site headcount of 100. This opportunity is offered on a permanent basis and is based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
The Process Operator will work as a valued member of the team, manufacturing specific products according to the company’s standards and requirements, in accordance with written procedures, complying with safety regulations and quality requirements and working within the company’s Environmental Permit consents. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to identify and report problems, assist in actions for continuous improvement, and ne flexible in your approach to duties in accordance with the requirements of the business.
Responsibilities of the Process Operator:
- Operate distributed controlled systems and monitor the charging of raw materials and running of continuous or batch orders.
- Submitting samples for laboratory analysis and adjusting specific parameters during production on instructions from the laboratory.
- Operate ancillary equipment e.g., filters, scrubbers etc.
- Off-loading incoming bulk liquid raw materials and loading bulk liquid tankers and other containers with finished products for sale.
- Monitor, record and report the condition of equipment within the working plant area to identify defects and enable repairs by the maintenance teams to be performed in a timely manner.
- Isolate, decontaminate and prepare plant equipment to ensure equipment/plant is in a safe condition for maintenance/repair personnel to work on.
- To operate a fork-lift truck as required for the role.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful Process Operator will be IT literate and have related experience working on a hazardous chemical production plant, Top Tier COMAH facility or similar. Experience using documented control systems is desirable.
Due to the nature of the industry, the successful Process Operator will be flexible in working hours, possibly working double days (06:00 – 14:00 & 14:00 – 22:00), 24/5(06:00 – 14:00, 14:00 – 22:00 & 22:00 – 06:00) or 24/7 (12.25-hour shifts, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off, on a 7-week rota followed by 18 days off).
In addition to a general salary package and shift allowance, the successful Process Operator will be entitled to 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays, Pension and Life Assurance.
