Position Overview & Specifications
The post-holder will be working within the IAPT service providing triage assessments and High Intensity interventions using CBT with clients presenting with a range of anxiety and depression presentations.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
High Intensity therapists provide assessment, triage, treatment and mental health promotion activities within primary care, for people experiencing common mental health problems and help support towards the self-management towards recovery. Treatment programmes are designed to aid clinical improvement and social inclusion – including return to work and meaningful activity or other occupational activities, with the aim to enable service users to manage their own difficulties and reach their maximum potential. High Intensity Therapists do this through the provision of information and support for evidence-based High Intensity psychological interventions.
1. Conducting telephone assessments and identify suitability of clients for the ELFT Remote IAPT Service (ERIS)
2. Planning, managing, and implementing therapeutic interventions utilising a High Intensity CBT approach
3. Telephone or video work with service users.
4. Telephone liaison with other professionals to expedite signposting to other service where appropriate.
5. Regular liaison/meetings with line/case manager.
6. Integrated working with other elements of the services provided by ERIS.
7. Work alongside practice teams including liaison with service users and carers, audit activity, and advice and support to GPs and practice staff.
8. Networking with the wider health and social care system.
9. Supporting and educating service users regarding medication regimes
10. Mental health promotion
11. To work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally sensitive manner.
12. Assist service users to identify and effectively manage their emotional distress and psychological disturbance.
13. To organise and manage a substantial caseload of active cases, with an expectation of a minimum of 20 hours attended clinical contact per week for 1.0 WTE.
14. To provide information about other local services relevant to the client’s needs and or cultural preferences.

16. To work towards accreditation by BABCP if not yet accredited

High Intensity therapists are expected to operate using a stepped care approach, in a high-volume environment carrying a significant number of active cases at any one time, with full time workers having a minimum of 20 attended hours clinical contact per week.
The post holder will make a vital contribution to the overall delivery of psychological therapy services.
