We launched our Diversity & Inclusion Strategy in 2020 and now, due to promotion, we’re looking for someone to continue the delivery of the strategy, to drive increased Diversity within East Midlands Railway and help embed an inclusive approach across the business to expose the benefits of a Diverse workforce.

The role will be responsible for developing the skills of our management workforce in line with the our leadership competencies. Using HR accreditation schemes, you will benchmark and apply continuous improvement tools to drive positive organisational change.

As the Organisation Development & Culture Manager you will:-

  • Execute EMR’s Diversity & Inclusion Strategy working in partnership with the unions and key stakeholders to build a diverse, inclusive and equitable culture.
  • D&I Thought leadership for EMR, ensuring EMR’s D&I Strategy is evolved to remain relevant, in line with current thinking and fit for purpose within EMR. Take a continuous improvement approach to D&I Metrics to ensure the impact of any interventions are measured, considering Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Lead on the development, implementation and embedding of the D&I Strategy and action plan, advising the executive team, functional champions and other relevant staff on the D&I agenda on an on-going basis.
  • To lead quarterly meetings of network groups with senior leadership regarding D&I issues, creating cultural change across the business, by supporting external community groups working with networks and identifying options with leadership to enact change.
  • Lead the Employee Network Group chairs, including, recruitment, training, facilitation and support, to be credible Network leads enabling them to achieve tangible change for their group.
  • Work with the organisation to understand the training needs of our leaders (first line and middle managers) and develop engaging learning content to build capability and drive performance in line with the Abellio Leading by Example competencies.
  • Lead our work around annual HR accreditations (Top Employers, Inclusion Standard, Disability Confident) utilising the feedback from the standards to co-ordinate and ensure change is implemented to drive performance across the whole organisation, demonstrating annual progress against these standards.
  • Co-ordinate the annual Leadership Mentoring Schemes within the organisation to support the development of future Talent in line with our Performance Management Process and Talent Management Processes.
  • Support the Head of Organisation Development with the Annual Performance Review cycle to ensure process is clear and understood by the management population. Work with the HR Operations team to support interventions with poor performers and future talent to ensure that managers can confidently address issues identified around poor performance or flight risks.

You should also fulfil the following criteria:-

  • An experienced OD professional with experience of design and delivery of OD interventions which might include; Change Management initiatives, Training and Development Programmes, Team and Leadership Development
  • Degree or equivalent level education; or able to demonstrate the intellectual ability necessary to understand, interpret and execute OD and D&I Strategy.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering strategies and interventions with meaningful outcomes which impact the culture of the organisation.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills, able to work under pressure effectively to meet deadlines
  • Strong communications, influencing and interpersonal skills necessary for development of company wide training and/or situations where persuading and influence is required.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop on line training or write scopes for the development of online training. (Desirable)
  • Understanding of the Diversity & Inclusion Agenda and curiosity to continue to learn, with demonstrable ability to drive meaningful change in this area.
  • Excellent influencing skills with demonstrable ability to challenge and change people’s beliefs
  • Ability to work effectively with member of the Senior Leadership Team and leadership across the business, to shape, support and drive forward OD & D&I Strategy
  • Excellent facilitation skills are necessary, with ability to create open and inclusive environments to support productive debate, the robust expression of ideas.
  • Professional Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (MCIPD), or equivalent experience.
