Position Overview & Specifications

Overview:
Element have an opportunity for a Technical Business Development Specialist (North UK) to work closely with regional account managers to grow our chromatography consumables and services portfolio. The Technical BD Specialist assists with customer relationship development, identification and conversion of opportunities, identification of new businesses and new departments within existing customers. The role will focus on supporting their account manager teams with technical sales activities to achieve defined business targets.

Element Laboratory Solutions (ELS )are the UK’s premier supplier of chromatography products, training and technical services. This is a Field role with Extensive travel (40%-60% of working time) and is based in the North of England/Scotland and reports to our location in Strathaven, Lanarkshire.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide a technical sales resource within the UK and Ireland
  • Undertake direct technical sales activities on an ad. hoc. basis and according to an agreed sales support program for key accounts in the UK and Ireland
  • Develop, grow and maintain relationships with customers to demonstrate that the business is ‘Technically Differentiated’
  • Support sales planning and customer analysis to achieve sales growth across the product portfolio
  • Generate key conversion and upselling opportunities for the chemistry product range across new and existing customers
  • Develop technical sales & marketing materials to support New Product Introduction (NPI) with dedicated ramp to volume target
  • Develop technical sales & marketing materials to support sales of chemistries products
  • Provide technical training to the sales team to ensure they able to discuss the technical aspects of products at the appropriate level
  • Liaise with product suppliers to ensure that the business has suitable technical sales literature to support product sales and marketing
  • Attend exhibitions and conferences as required
  • Deliver customer technical product training (seminars) and consultancy services as well as onsite and offsite demo’s as applicable
  • The role supports the Group Technical Services team and will require support activities to be provided to all businesses within the Element Lab Solutions division on an as needs basis

Skills / Qualifications:
  • Experience of working in a lab (Chromatography experience essential)
  • Life Science Degree or similar
  • Applications development experience would be a significant advantage
  • Sales Experience is not essential however you should be able to demonstrate commercial drive with sales aptitude
  • Fundamental understanding of analytical chemistry
