Position Overview & Specifications
IEP is a rapidly growing part of our business with increasing workload, and team size, including water company engagement to manage the ongoing water resources drought, and opportunity to shape growing environmental investment through the water company Price Review (PR) and Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP). It now requires two team leaders with agility to flex responsibilities according to experience, capabilities and workload.
With established technical leads for each of the main work themes, although you will need an interest and commitment to the work, specific technical expertise is not essential. We do need an enthusiastic and proactive leader to help our people be the best they can, meet our ambition to be a life enhancing organisation, and behavioural culture of how we do things, and champion for our environmental delivery.
You will benefit from the technical support of a dedicated team of experts, and work alongside another IEP Team Leader for the part of Area IEP that will not come under your direct line management. You will also be part of both our Environment Planning and Engagement (EPE) department, and wider Area Leadership Group (ALG) that will provide many opportunities for leadership peer support and learning.
You will also be required to support our environmental incident response that may involve working outside normal hours and attract additional payments. Full training will be provided.
- Leading our Health, Safety and Wellbeing ambition, including the aspiration that working for the Environment Agency should feel life enhancing, supporting colleagues wherever possible, and helping your team members develop to be the best they can.
- Being a role model for our culture of how we do things, including equality, diversity and inclusion to inspire, motivate, and support a diverse range of people.
- The ability to champion the work of the team and its people, ensuring its people and the work they do is valued and recognised
- Having a proactive approach to innovation and problem-solving. Helping others deliver the most outcomes through effectiveness and efficiency.
- Networking to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing demands from internal and external stakeholders
In addition to the permanent vacancy, there may be potential for an additional fixed term appointment, depending on the future position of the substantive team leader currently on assignment.
