The Opportunity


This role in our large, well established Personal Tax department affords the right individual an opportunity to join us and work on a broad variety of clients, including individuals and trusts. There will be support to study for professional qualifications.

You will be able to use your initiative to work both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment, assisting your team to deliver personal tax compliance services to a portfolio of clients.


Your Key Responsibilities


As a Personal Tax Assistant, we would expect you to support your team to effectively manage a portfolio of clients, helping to prepare their tax returns and ensuring that all tax processing is compliant with current Tax laws. You will be building and managing relationships with your clients and colleagues, providing support to other team members when necessary. You will also be dealing with the HM Revenue offices and other third parties on behalf of your clients. You will be expected to work collaboratively with people within your team and also in other EY offices, which can be in the U.K. or overseas.

  • The ability to take your own initiative and work effectively alone as well as part of a team.
  • Being able to demonstrate professionalism and self-assurance.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy and being willing to learn how to use new skills and processes as we move forward with Making Tax Digital.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate well with both clients and colleagues within your team.
  • Ability to work flexibly and willing to support other EY teams when needed.


To qualify for the role you must have

  • An Undergraduate degree in any discipline at 2:2 or above.
  • Willing to study towards a professional qualification.
  • Eligible to work in the U.K.
  • No previous tax knowledge is required.
