What you will be doing
Carry out exploratory analysis to identify and understand the highest impact business problems.
Design and implement machine learning models to solve business problems.
Carry out A/B tests and causal inference analysis.
Communicate analytical results to business stakeholders.
Collaborate with a team of data scientists and engineers.
You will participate in a full-stack data team of 11 and growing, which includes Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and an ML Engineer. Contribute to long-term architectural decisions and help scale the data-driven culture across the organization.
Who you are
This is a key role within the Gelato team, and we are seeking a skilled Data Scientist who can help us both shape strategy and to execute against a bold and aggressive roadmap to support Gelato's rapidly scaling business operations.
While being a self-starter, hands-on, and comfortable with ambiguity, you are a strong team player.
You are committed to excel with energy and endurance, and you understand that helping to build a company is hard but satisfying work. You have a passion, and the stamina for building great services and technology, superior communication skills, high integrity, and great attention to detail.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar field from a top tier University
4-8 years of relevant experience with data modeling, applying analytics and machine learning.
Advanced level of Python and SQL
Experience in data visualization and BI tools
Highly analytical, with a bias for objective measurement, facts and reasoning
Solid understanding of statistics, machine learning and experimentation / causal inference
Great at telling a story through factual data
Self-starter, hands on and comfortable with ambiguity
Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral skills. Able to effectively communicate with all levels
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Data disciplines, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar field
Advanced skills with Python and SQL
Track record of tangible business impact based on ML implementation
Strong storytelling skills
