Position Overview & Specifications
The post-holders will be supported to provide an empathic, person-centred, biopsychosocial, and trauma-informed approach when taking calls on the helpline, as well as delivering low level brief psychological interventions as required. Whilst calls taken by assistant psychologists on the helpline are triaged for suitability based on risk and complexity from a qualified member of staff, successful candidates will become proficient in identifying and responding to risk and safe-guarding indicators. In addition, assistant psychologists will be expected to be part of projects, including working with frequent callers to the helpline to identify and address individual needs. This may at times involve data collection, analysis and report writing, and inputting into training initiatives. The post-holders may also expect to be involved in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency liaison and other organisational activities. They will receive regular clinical supervision and reflective practice, both individual and group, from a qualified clinical psychologist in addition to management support. Comprehensive and continual training and development will be provided. Please note that shift work, including working unsociable hours, will be required in the delivery of this work.
