Position Overview & Specifications

The Talking With Voices Trial is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation Programme.

Talking With Voices is a 34-month multisite study, led by Dr Eleanor Longden and Professor Tony Morrison, which builds on our track record of collaborative research on psychological interventions for people with psychosis and other serious mental health problems through evaluating the possible benefits of a dialogical intervention for reducing the impact of distressing voices compared with treatment as usual.

We will conduct this research across 4 areas in the UK (Manchester, London, Newcastle, and Oxford).

The post holder will be responsible for the systems, processes and structures required to coordinate the trial and ensure that the research undertaken meets the requirements of the Research Governance Framework and relevant legislation.

The post involves extensive use of administrative, interpersonal and IT skills, including the management of databases, monitoring of progress against milestones, coordination of participant recruitment, production of complex spreadsheets for allocation of funding and resources, and use of e-mail and the internet.

The post holder will be involved in the training and clinical supervision of the research assistants across sites and will also deliver the voice dialoguing intervention (approximately 1 day per week). The post holder will have line management and supervisory responsibility for approximately 5.0wte members of staff.

They will have a relevant PhD and a clinical psychology qualification (DClinPsy). The post will be predominantly based at Rico House (M25), but will involve travel around the UK.

BAND 7 1.0 WTE; Fixed Term: 1 year in first instancebut project is funded for 34-months, and intention is to extend contract for duration of the project (subject to a successful internal pilot).
