Our Client group is diverse and you will need a good level of knowledge of the differing mental health needs of adults needing inpatient care. You will be expected to work a 24 hour rotation of day and night shifts.

The post holder will assist in the overall delivery of care to patients on the Ward. Working with adults of working age in an acute inpatient mental health setting.

They will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will at all times comply with the NMC Code of Conduct, relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

In line with the philosophy of the ward/unit the post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the identified clients, acting as Primary Nurse for service users with complex and challenging needs within the service.
  • The postholder will deliver interventions on an individual basis, providing effective evidence based care to service users. Communication and liaison with a number of disciplines is essential to promote effective delivery of a comprehensive care package to meet service users’ needs.
  • The postholder will provide support and direction to junior team members and assist in the smooth coordination and running of the ward.
  • With the service user, assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans within the clinical area’s philosophy/approach, as Primary Nurse for an identified caseload to the standards expected within the ward.
  • As a part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team, participate in clinical and CPA reviews, completing all relevant documentation to the agreed standard.
  • To ensure all clinical activity is recorded fully and in a timely manner, ensuring information being shared with relevant stakeholders.
  • To engage effectively with service users, can empathise and has insight into patient's perceptions and is able to negotiate unambiguous boundaries in relationships.
  • To complete all required documentation associated with the role of Primary Nurse, ensuring review timeframes are met.
