Head of Education

The NHS in SEL spans a range of organisations with people employed across many different roles and, in diverse settings. Our partner organisations include voluntary and community sector, NHS Trusts, social care, and primary and community services for example, GP practices, dental surgeries, pharmacies and optometrists. The SEL ICS People Function has been established to bring these partners together to deliver the ‘one workforce’ ambition, making the health and care system a better place to work and live.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Education to join our People Function, hosted by Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

In this role you will be responsible for providing overall strategic leadership and programme management of the training and education portfolio across the SEL ICS.

You will need to be passionate about the education agenda and have a deep understanding of education development and delivery within higher education institutions.

This role will be part of the SEL ICS People Function the post holder will report into the People Function Director.

On a day-to-day basis, the post holder will:

• Lead and deliver a portfolio of work linked to education and training ICS priorities
• Manage the work programme under newly defined education governance including the existing SEL Education Collaborative
• Address the risks to workforce supply through regularly monitoring the education pipeline
• Design and develop new approaches to delivering as required to address the People Strategy and operational response
• Delegate and manage the work of a Workforce Transformation and Workforce Project manager (shared post)
• Manage the project budget
• Deputise as required for Programme Director

This post is part of the SEL ICS Workforce Programme hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and as such the post holder will be an employee of GSTT and expected to adhere to the Trust values and standards.
