Nurse Endoscopist - Trainee

Are you a driven and motivated Nurse Endoscopist that would relish the opportunity to work in a state of the art, magnificently situated Endoscopy Unit in central London? Or are you an experienced GI Nurse wishing to train as a Nurse Endoscopist?

If so we are recruiting to a Trainee Band 7 Nurse Endoscopist post within our excellent multi-disciplinary endoscopy team that may be for you. The successful applicants must have a vibrant and innovative approach to advanced nursing practice, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to contribute to our expert and dynamic Nurse Endoscopist (NE) team that lead and contribute to many national advanced nursing practice initiatives.

The successful applicant will be required to take a significant role in supporting the Endoscopy team to maintain and improve our JAG and GRS standards.

This post is a training opportunity as a Band 7 to train in Upper GI and TNE, progressing to Lower endoscopy. Full clinical supervision and support will be given alongside regular training lists and a full training program. Other roles to this post will include supporting the delivery of the Endoscopy service including endoscopy pre-assessment.

There will also be the opportunity to take part in UGI TAC service and development to ensure FDS is met and patients receive timely diagnosis.

Performing endoscopy procedure on diagnostic endoscopy lists once completed HEE national training program and assessed as competent for independent practice by JAG

Running independent clinics for patients on 2ww pathway, independently conducting UGI TACs.

The appointee will work towards an advanced level nursing role including:
1. Practice autonomously and be self-directed
2. Undertake assessment of individuals using a range of different assessment methods, which may include physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests or advanced health needs assessment
3. Draw on a diverse range of knowledge in their decision-making to determine evidence-based therapeutic interventions; this may include prescribing medication and actively monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
4. Actively seek and participate in peer review of their own practice
5. Appropriately define the boundaries of their practice
6. Promote and participate in the implementation of the GSTT Nursing &
Midwifery strategy and Core Standards and contribute towards achieving the Trust’s Objectives
