Job summary:
We are looking for an inquisitive and capable Analyst to join the Strategy and Corporate Development team. This is a small team that works at the heart of the business to shape our growth and transformation strategy and support its implementation.
You will report to the Senior Financial Analyst and will work closely with the whole team, comprising the Head of Innovation and Digital Strategy Manager, alongside the Chief Strategy Officer.
You will work closely with senior management, underwriting teams and many parts of the business. The broader remit of Strategy and Corporate Development includes: Strategy – shape and communicate a clear story and cohesive long-term plan for the Group and working internally and externally to support implementation.
This role has tremendous scope for learning and development across a range of specialty insurance activities and is ideal for someone looking to build a career in insurance. Progression is self-determined, so this role would suit an ambitious and enterprising candidate.
This is a broad role and to be successful in it you will need to be curious, analytical and organised. You will interact closely with senior management and widely across the business, so will need to have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Main Duties:
- Corporate Development – identify and pursue potential business development opportunities
- Intelligence – carry out, share and act on appropriate market, customer and competitor research and analysis, both quantitative and qualitative
- Innovation – build and leverage our reputation for innovation and creativity for growing commercial benefit
- Shaping, building and communicating our strategy and long-term plan across the business and to external partners
- Working with underwriting teams to maintain an effective understanding of industry trends and to help identify appropriate opportunities to implement their intended strategies and long-term plans
- Defining and conducting market, competitor and customer research and analysis to improve market knowledge across the business and inform Group strategy and decision making
- Research to help identify underwriting and investment opportunities or potential underwriting partnerships
- Financial analysis and due diligence of opportunities relating to potential acquisitions or investments in underwriting or related businesses
- Conducting customer research in support of potential Innovation partnerships
