Position Overview & Specifications
The Autism Assessment Service is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist/ Assistant Practitioner.
Our service is passionate about transitioning from a deficit/ medical of autism and embraces the neurodiversity paradigm: we strive to engage children, young people and families to understand their own strengths and needs and to work together to promote wellbeing. We have several members of staff who have lived experience of neurodivergence, and our team are well regarded for our innovative ways of working, having received several individual awards and team Trust recognition for our work.
We are very excited to have secured funding for this post to support the team to develop a self-referral model, recognising that the best people to tell us about what they need are young people and their families. Our service strives to be responsive to the needs of neurodivergent young people and their families, and our goal over the next year is to refresh our processes and resources.
The post holder will benefit from close working relationships in the MDT autism assessment team as part of a wider integrated Specialist Children's Service. There will be regular supervision with Clinical Psychologist as well as peer supervision. This post offers opportunities in assessment, therapeutic support and liaison with other agencies.
