Salary Range: £36,167 to £40,464 pro rata per annum
Work Location: Elizabeth II Court, Winchester (hybrid working)
Hours per week: 37 (part-time hours will be considered on a job share basis)
Contract Type: Permanent
Closing Date: 26 February 2023
Expected Interview Date: 10 March 2023
The Role:
Joining our friendly Children, Young People and Families team, you’ll have the opportunity to advance your career in public health whilst playing a key role in improving outcomes for children and young people. We are a growing team where everyone has a voice in shaping our progress. We enjoy working collaboratively and can offer a safe space for professional development and training.
Your proven track record of contributing to Public Health outcomes will enable you to develop a sustainable Health in Education Settings offer, forging strong relationships between the Public Health Team, Education and Inclusion colleagues in Children’s Services and with the education settings themselves. You will work in partnership with a range of stakeholders to improve our children and young peoples’ health and wellbeing within early years, primary, secondary, and post-16 education settings including special schools and for those educated at home.
You’ll be passionate about using education settings as a place to deliver public health initiatives. Strong experience of working in a public health setting and a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant field is essential. Your experience of successful partnership working and your communication and influencing skills will enable you to effectively engage with education settings, raising awareness of the Hampshire Health in Education offer and the evidence based information and resources available. Your project management skills, ability to work on your own initiative and knowledge of public health principles will be key in supporting education settings to improve the health and wellbeing of the children and young people in their care, ultimately contributing to the reduction of health inequalities.
We recognise the benefits hybrid working can bring, so you’ll be able to work remotely (with equipment provided) with office-based working in Winchester once a week. You may be required to visit other locations within Hampshire (and the Isle of Wight or other local authority), and therefore need to have the ability to travel, as necessary.
Hampshire County Council is a flexible employer offering a great work life balance, a competitive salary and benefits package.
Please note that you must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role.

Values Based Recruitment
We are passionate about our values:

Collaborative: Working together, combining talents and sharing resources to shape decisions and actions, and to maximise health outcomes.
• Equalities-driven: Reducing inequalities and promoting equity in all we do, so that no one is left behind as we strive for better health and wellbeing.
• Outcome focussed: Prioritising our work based on evidence, effectiveness and value for money to improve quality outcomes and prevent ill health.
• Sustainable: Being future-focused. Creating lasting change in local systems and communities. Developing our work through a climate change lens to achieve health and climate benefits.

We practice values-based recruitment in Public Health and invite you to evidence how you demonstrate our values in your application. The interview for the role will also be values based and will explore how you will be able to contribute to these.
