Primary Responsibilities

Assist experienced engineers in the design process in order to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry.

  • Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production.
  • Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design.
  • Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages.
  • Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications
  • Develop an understanding of appropriate Legislation Standards, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice
  • Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines
  • Maintain a training Log on a daily basis, recording achievements and experience
  • Attend relevant training as required by the practice.
  • Attend Lunch time CPD’s and Knowledge Sharing sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to project a positive, welcoming and professional attitude at all times
  • Able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively
  • Attention to detail, diligent at all times and a proactive attitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to take direction and report progress on your work with others
  • Be driven and proactive with ability to work autonomously on occasion
  • A personable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude is essential
  • Able to qualify for the government apprenticeship criteria

Preferred Qualifications

  • Willing to work towards a degree qualification.
  • Educated at ideally A-Level, equivalent and above
  • Competency in MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint are desired
  • A commitment to a career in Commissioning
  • Be organised and comfortable juggling multiple work streams
  • Good administration skills with ability to multi-task
