Successful candidates will join the Accelerated Detective Constable Programme and complete a year of intensive training and practical experience to ensure that the requirements of a police constable are met.
You will then spend a year undertaking three crime attachments, whilst also completing training to obtain the relevant qualification to become a detective. On completion of the programme, you will be posted into a detective role.
No previous policing experience is necessary to apply, but it is essential that anyone applying displays the skills and attributes suited to the role. This includes an inquisitive mind, excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of integrity. It is a challenging job but also one which is extremely diverse and rewarding.
Detectives work in a number of interesting and varied teams, from investigating prevalent local crime, including burglaries and drug related crime, to assaults and robberies and more specialist investigations including protecting the vulnerable, such as victims of domestic abuse, and cybercrime.
The Herts police officer starting salary is £29,682.
