Position Overview & Specifications

Job Summary:

The Instrument Technician will be responsible for installation, calibration, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of all instrument equipment processes.

The objective and scope of the position of Instrument Technician is to carry out the workscopes assigned, safely, on time, in budget and ensure the technical integrity of the installation

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems and record results.
  • Inspect meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations and record results.
  • Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, pressure transmitters, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to locate defective components, and ensure suitability for continued use using Beamex test equipment.
  • Remove defective instruments, disassemble, clean, and replace defective parts where applicable. Reassemble instruments and replace instruments in the system where required.
  • Calibrate site instrumentation using Beamex equipment
  • Participate in regular training as required to maintain and/or develop competency levels.
  • Work as part of the site instrument maintenance department to site required standards to ensure reliability and accuracy of site instrumentation
  • Carry out tasks as per site and industry required standards
  • Complete any other tasks as reasonably required in relation to your role

Key Skills Required

  • You will need to have a recognised instrumentation apprenticeship and educated to RQF level 3 in a Control/Instrumentation discipline as a minimum.
  • Experience of Calibration and Control Systems
  • Similar previous experience working within engineering/test environment
  • Experience using basic power tools
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Full driving licence is essential
  • Good timekeeping
  • Happy to travel – daily travel is involved
